How I Declutter My Home For The New Year!

table-white-home-interior (1)I like to declutter my environment at least 4 times a year. I like to declutter around the changing of the seasons. I will declutter a week before or after the new year, in the spring time, summer time, and in the fall. I believe every season brings new changes and new revelations.

I love reflecting over my life and my goals in each season. I am always listening inwardly to hear if the Holy Spirit wants to reveal important information to me. I also love changing out my fashion style with what I call, “my colors for the season.” I will write another blog post about how I invested in a fashion and style coach, “The Brown Closet” but for now, click the link to pay The Brown Closet a visit.

There is something about the New Year that makes me want to hit the reset button and start all over again. I love having systems in place in my home and decluttering is one of the systems I use to keep things organized. It always make me feel like I have a new start.pexels-photo-110215This year thou, I feel different. I don’t know how to explain it but it feels like a major shift has taken place in my heart. My New Year’s theme is a “New Year, a New You.” A part of that is really being intentional about changing some bad habits I had in 2017. Like being on time to scheduled appointments. I have 5 people that I am responsible for. I have to make sure they have what they need before we walk out of the door and I did not include myself in that number. I used this as an excuse to not be on time to places. But this year, I am going to intentionally put a plan in place to help me get to places on time. I will give myself lots of grace if things comes up that are out of my control.

This year I am decluttering my schedule, my time and my focus so that I will have breakthrough success. When I do my seasonal decluttering, I have items on my list that can never take a back seat to be decluttered, because if these things are not monitored, they can get out of control. These items are papers, clothes, shoes, toys and homeschool materials. Some people never get rid of things in their environment and it just accumulates.

I have 4 children all under the age of 12, it is challenging to keep things organized. My household includes 6 people. That is six people with things, stuff and items living in one environment. Imagine with me for a moment, if I never got rid of things from the time I got married and gave birth to my children, up until date, that would be 17 years of accumulation in a 1240 square foot of living space. The results would be stifling!books-1617327_1920I use to have 3 bookshelves but now I have just one. I got rid of the other ones because I want to live a more simpler and intentional lifestyle. The less you have in your environment, the less you have to clean and maintain the upkeep of it all. The less you have in your environment, the bigger your space feels.

I can only read one book at a time. I realize when I am done reading a book, I rarely go back to read it again. If I want a book, I can just check it out at my local library. The same goes for my children.

Unless you have someone that comes in and clean your home, what I found out is that, moms are always trying to stay on top of the cleaning, laundry, cooking, schedules and trying to keep things orderly. A lot of times we moms get frustrated and overwhelmed because we are trying to maintain the upkeep of the things we are constantly bringing in our homes for our families. It is exhausting to keep cleaning up the same old things you’ve just cleaned up 2 hours ago.

When I get disorganized, the things I instantly want to tackle are the dishes, paper/trash, clothes, shoes, toys, laundry and homeschool materials. I have to constantly stay on top of those items.blue-glass-flower-decoration (1)When I tackle my seasonal decluttering, I make sure to get every single detail. I clean out every cabinet, every closet, I get rid of any clothes that have stains, rips and are too small. I get rid of furniture that is broken and is not working for the space. I get rid of any appliances that are broken and dishes that are chipped. I get rid of shoes that are to little and worn out. I declutter homeschool material and papers, I clean out every drawer, I declutter linen, I get rid of toys that my children have lost interest in and are broken. I declutter medicine, I declutter food that is in the cabinets and refrigerator that have expired. I declutter books and I wipe down and clean everything; walls, doors, ceiling fans, light fixtures, carpet, furniture and floors.

I use to have a beautiful glass coffee and end table, glass vases, and the pretty decorative balls that sit on the coffee table but when I started having kids it was too much work to monitor it all and keep the glass mark free. I had to redefine my style of decor because the season had changed in my life. I remember trying to hold on to those glass tables because thy were one of a kind and we paid a lot of money for them, but my husband was adamant about letting them go after one of my children bumped their face on the glass. Those items were not working for us anymore.

Sometimes we try to hold on to seasons that have come and is now gone and God wants to do something new with our lives. If we are too attached to things and if our identity is wrapped up in them, we can become stuck in a formal season.

I would love to hear about ways you keep your life decluttered. Leave a comment. Follow me on social media by clicking the links down below. To follow me on Instagram click here.

Homeschool Curriculum Made Easy!

Today I want to share with my homeschool moms, how I keep my homeschool curriculum simple, fun, engaging, challenging and easy.mathematics-2640219_1920I used to think you had to have a curriculum for all 8 subjects. One for math, spelling, writing, history, science, art, reading and english(language arts, grammar).

That is probably fine, if you are homeschooling 1 or even 2 children, but when you are homeschooling more than 2 children, you probably want to keep it simple for your children and for yourself.

This is my 3rd year homeschooling, and burnout is real if you do not have a plan in place for it.

You have to keep your homeschooling creative, fun, simple, easy, challenging and engaging. You have to switch things up sometimes. I like to call this, my mid year switcharoo.books-2585511_1920Routines are great as long as you shake things up a bit. You need to incorporate some fieldtrips, co-ops, playdates, time off, vacations and switch up they way you homeschool sometimes.

I like to go to the park or the library and homeschool there. Changing up your scenary keep homeschooling fun and engaging. Instead of having lunch at home, I like to go to the park and have a pinic lunch. I even had a pinic lunch on my front lawn.

Moms, I suggest you getaway for at least 3 days by yourself to a nice hotel. Sometimes you need to be by yourself, without anyone around. You need to wake up without being responsible for anyone. If you just want to lie in bed all day, you should be able to do that on your getaway.interior-1026452_1920Do not ask your girlfriends to join you, because you will find out, you are still on other people time. You need this time alone. You need to pour back into yourself, from pouring into others all the time. Taking time away for yourself will also prevent homeschool burnout.

I use to be an 8 subjects, 8 different curricula homeschooling moma, until I reached homeschool burnout.

I prayed and ask God to show me how to condense 8 subjects into about 3-4 subjects. Here’s how He showed me I can make this happen so that I would not feel overwhelmed, burned out and my kids lessons would be fun, easy for me to teach, simple, engaging, challenging and creative.

Ok, first of all who said you had to use a set curriculum. I had to relax in the way I homeschooled, and then I had to look back over my elementary years of going to school to remember what I actually retained from all those years.leave-364178_1920I retained the subjects I do life with every single day. Subjects like reading, writing and arithmetic like; adding, subtracting, multiplications, divison and percentage.

Grammar was not a strong point for me in high school but it is my life now, I make sure to make this subject important for my kids because some of them are going to be writers like their mommy.

Life skills or home economics, is very important to the way we live our life as well. We get the privilegde of teaching these skills to our homeschoolers often. Manners have become a lost art in our society, it needs to be taught at home, always, until your children leave your home. It is important for them to know what is proper and what is not when they go out into the world.

Then you are left with history, science, art and geography. Not saying these subject are not important because they are, but you have to make these subjects fun and engaging or they will become boring to your children.pexels-photo-207756When my kids learn, I want them to actually retain what they are learning, not push a bunch of infomation in their brain because I am trying to finish a curriculum to make myself feel accomplished.

So here is my process!

My kids ages are 12, 6 and 5, they are all girls. I have a son that is 3 years old, and he goes to a early childhood center, 4 days a week, for only 3 hours, it is free in our community and it gives him social and learning time with other boys and girls his age.

I struggled to put him in this program. But I am glad I did. He loves it. He requires a lot of attention and this has allowed me to effectively focus on my school age children.

The girls work load looks like this now.

  1. Math
  2. Spell and Write book
  3. Writing
  4. Unit Study which includes Art, History, Science some Geography and Book report.

Math

My 12 year old is using

Ace Homeschool Math, 6th grade, she does 3 pages a day.

My 6 and 5 year old does 1-3 math sheets or activites a day, depending on how challenging or easy it is. I brought math books for both of them, tore out the pages and put them in a binder. They also use ABC mouse.pexels-photo-446345 (1).jpegSpelling and Writing

All three girls use Spell and Write by Evan Moor kindergarten, 1st grade and 6th grade which includes spelling, reading, writing and grammar & punctuation. All of these subjects are inside of this one book. I have them to do 3 pages a day. Click the link to see how the book looks on the inside. Click on the book to look inside. You get to see how they are able to put all these subjects into one book.

For additional reading, my 12 year and 6 year old are reading chapter books and my 5 year old is learning how to read with Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lesson.

For additional writing, my 12 year old write book reports, letters and stories. We use grammar & punctuation editing here as well. My 6 and 5 year old does book reports also, I allow my 1st grader to write and spell her words in her 1st grade vocabulary and spelling. Sometimes we go over the misspelled words and sometime we do not.

This is part of the 1st grader process. They write words with the sounds that make sense to them. They draw about the person they are doing a book report about and write what ever they retained in our reading about that person. My 5 year old does copy work. She tells me what to write and then I write it out for her to copy on her own.

My 6 year old and 5 year old also uses Abeka cursive and manuscript writing for their grade level.solar-system-439046_1920Unit Study

All 3 girls do their unit study together. Unit Studies include science, art, and history some geography. They do not do all of these subjects in one day. It is not burdensome. I keep it light and fun!

What are our unit studies about? Right now we just finished learning about the Human Body. We will learn about the Moon, Sun, Planets, Genetics, Plant Life, Weather, and Matter.

I will do a seperate blog post about how I plan my unit studies. It will take a whole another blog post to talk about it and to go into details about it. Unit Studies take a lot of planning, but I love the process! They are unique, simple, challenging, creative and so much fun!

This is our process this year. It might change next year. But this year, I had to change things up a bit.

I would love to hear from my homeschooling momas, please leave a comment, and by all means subscribe to Breakthrough Blog 4 Women. Follow me on my social media link down below. 2 Ways To Eliminate Being Overwhelmed!

people-1492052_1920-2

Are you struggling with getting things done? Are you finding yourself getting behind on your daily task? Do you feel overwhelm with all the things you have going on in your life.

I want to encourage you and give you some tips on how you can conquer your day and feel super successful.

I talk a lot about people pleasing, I believe when you are not being honest with what you can honestly handle, taking on extra responsibility, and attending events you really know you shouldn’t attend, you are in people pleasing mold.

Before you can actually feel super successful, you need to sit down and get really clear about what is important you, what are you suppose to be doing at this season in your life and what is causing you to feel so overwhelmed.

day-planner-828611_1920Then, you are going to create you a strict schedule that will take the pressure off of you feeling so overwhelmed.

You are going to feel guilty about this at first, because you are used to being there for everybody else and you will feel guilty because you are going to have to tell people no.

Some people might be upset with you, and even might get offended with you, but you are going to have to be ok with that because you are now putting your health first. Feeling overwhelmed and stressed out is never good for your body or your mind. Our bodies have a way of sending us signals when we are pushing it to much.

When you are feeling anxiety in your heart, a headache because you are stressed and overwhelmed these are signals that is telling you that something needs to change in your life.

So how do you change it?

woman-391555_1920.jpg1. Disconnect From Time Wasters

Time wasters are things, people, busyness that have nothing to do with where you are trying to go in your life. It will always delay your progress from getting things done in your life.

You should have time for just relaxing, but what I am talking about here, is people who are living their life in the blind. They have no real pursuit or no real goals, neither are they focused with getting things done in their own life.

Time wasters can also be distractions. A distraction is a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else. Extreme agitation of the mind or emotion.

The scripture that comes to my mind when I think of time wasters and distractions is from 1 Peter 5:8Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up.

phone-1889405_1920

Just when you have decided to live the life of your dreams or live in your purpose the enemy will try to catch you off guard to delay your progress. You must recognize the time wasters in your life. It is a set up by the enemy, he wants to catch you napping.

Time wasters come in the form of a phone call from a friend who is just calling to see how you are doing. However, they are actually trying to find out what you are doing and because they have gotten off focus, the enemy is using them to get you off focus by having you to believe that they have an urgent matter to talk about.

TV is a big time waster. Billions of people are wasting their time looking at TV while others are living their dreams, when they should be pursuing their own dreams.

Computer gadgets are another times waster, If you have to be on-line for anything, give yourself a time to get on there and a time to get off. Schedule it in your day and stick to your schedule.

pexels-photo-58457

2. Schedule your day for success!

Let your time be accounted for! Every second, every minute, and every hour. Plan your day! A failure to plan can result in an ineffective day. But allow for flexibility for the suddenly. Please do not get bent out of shape if you have to detour from your list.

Make sure you get at least 3-5 things done on your list. Let them be absolute things, that absolutely must be done for that day and before you know it, your list will be completed.

Planning your day is also another way to keep time wasters out of your life and make what’s really important a top priority. Scheduling your day will ensure that you are bringing a balance in your life and making time for your important relationships, like time with the Lord, time taking care of yourself, time spent with your spouse, time spent with the kids and attention to your purpose and business.

budget

Here is a bonus! You can even schedule your bills for automation. That way you will never have to forget to pay another bill again resulting in more cash flow for you because you have eliminated late fees that was eating into my profit. When I started to automate my bills, it took the stress out of bill paying. I felt like life was very good. It shifted my focus to dreading to pay bills to loving to pay bills on time, which have resulted in a debt free lifestyle!

Sometimes we are looking at the big picture and wondering to ourselves how are we going to get everything done.

Well here is a sure strategy that will eliminate feelings of guilt, feelings of inadequacies, and failure. There is something about following a schedule that makes you feel super successful and secure. Statistics shows that even when you follow a schedule with your kids they feel more secure. Maybe it’s because you have set your intentions to make sure everything and everyone in your life is taken care of including yourself, and now you are giving out of the overflow of an already filled up tank.

Who Is Influencing Your Children?

This post is to mothers who are teaching and educating their children at home. Mom even if your child goes to a private or public school you can still benefit from this article. I am not anti-school, my kids went to awesome Christian Schools! And as soon as my son is potty trained, I am sending him to one of the best learning centers in Saint Louis, Mo. Transformation Christian School.

pexels-photo-94990

I am in a position in my life where I am able to teach my children at home. I realize this is a privilege most moms do not get to experience but wish they could. I also know, not all moms desire to teach their children at home and that is ok, do whatever works best for your family.

I want you to know that I highly respect teachers, I take my hat off to teachers, I am still trying to figure out how they are able to manage all those beautiful personalities, attitudes and the workload that comes with teaching and managing their own classroom.. I have 4 children at home and though it is rewarding to see your children blossom right before your eyes, it has a reality side to it as well. I really think teachers should get paid a salary equivalent to the salary of a doctor. I just want to take the time to thank all the teachers for your acts of service to our children. I which there was away that we as parents can make it more easier for you to teach our childern.

When I decided to teach my children at home, I had questions in my thoughts like every mother has when she is about to embark on a journey called the unknown. I had questions, doubts and fears but inside of my heart I believe this is what I was suppose to be doing. Yes I knew it would be a big sacrifice and a huge responsibility because I would be responsible for them getting everything they needed to succeed. But I knew I was not alone, and if God was leading me in this direction, then he would provide me with everything I needed to get the job done.

With any responsibility the first question we asks ourselves is, are we qualified to handle the task that is set before us? Are we willing to handle the task that is set before us? Will we be successful in handling the task that is set before us and last, am I suppose to handle this task that is set before me or is this something I just took on myself, a new experiment I want to try or God is this you really leading me to take on this task?

You and I are getting ready to explore what we really agreed to take on. Our reasons for teaching our children at home may be different, but we share the same journey. Moms just because you are sending  your children to learn in a classroom setting, doesn’t mean you get to escape your responsibility of teaching your children at home.

pexels-photo-5.jpeg

Can we just say all parents are teachers? Some has professional degrees and the rest of us was born with the natural ability to teach our children. God has given us an innate ability to lead and guide our children. Who is better able to love, nourish, teach and care for our children more than we are? Who has the instinctual and intuitive ability to know exactly what our children needs more than we do?

I am aware that not all moms are walking in this awareness and are labeled as bad mothers, but today I want to focus on the moms who are aware of their influence as a mother. Regardless of how you became a mother this article is for you.

There will be days when you don’t feel like you have walked in your full potential as a mom, on those days give yourself lots of grace. Do what ever you have to do to restore your relationship with your children. Our children are so precious and they desire fellowship with us. It is our job as parents, to teach our children about the ways of God and to bring them into true fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. I have listed some scriptures letting us know that teaching starts with the parents.

Isaiah 28:9-10 ESV “To whom will he teach knowledge, and to whom will he explain the message? Those who are weaned from the milk, those taken from the breast? For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, there a little.

Deuteronomy 6:6-9 “These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. “You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.
“You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

Genesis 18:19 ESV For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what he has promised him.”

There are so many voices that are in the world today, who voice will you teach your children to listen to. I will tell you who voices they should be listening to. God’s and Your voice. You have an obligation to teach your children to listen to the right voice. If you do not teach your children someone or something will be teaching them. The book of proverbs tells a son to listen to their father’s and mother’s instructions.

Proverbs 1-8:9 Hear, my son, your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching;  Indeed, they are a graceful wreath to your head and ornaments about your neck.

If we are going to teach our kids the ways of the Lord, then we must become a student of God’s word, so that we will have the knowledge to teach our children the ways of righteousness, holiness and truth.

numbers-time-watch-white.jpg

I think we are not aware of just how much time we are allowing others and things to teach our children. Sometimes we are just to overwhelm and tired to do it ourselves. So lets do the math of how much time we really have to teach our children the ways of the Lord. Lets explore how much time we really have every week to teach our children. There are 168 hours in a week.

*We rely on our churches to teach our children the ways of the Lord 2 days a week for about 2 hours. 4 hours a week

*We use our schools systems to teach them and educate them about 7 hours a day, 5 days a week. 35 hours

*Our children have to go to sleep. If they go to bed by 8pm and wake up by 7am, that is 11 hours. 77 hours a week.

*We are left with 52 hours a week teaching our children about the ways of the Lord. Now that is not including doing homework which can take up most of the evening depending on how many kids you have. Lets allot 1 hour for homework per day, for 6 days. 6 hours of homework time. We are down to 46 hours a week.

*If your children have after school activities like sports or lessons we will allot 4 hours a week for extra curricular activities. Leaving us with 42 hours a week to teach our children.

*I forgot to add daily cleaning and chores, like cooking, cleaning and making sure our family have fresh clothes, bath time, and all the other things that comes with running a household and extra commitments outside of the home. I will give 2 hours a day, 14 hours a week to that. Leaving us with 28 hours a week. That is only a 1 day and 4 hours a week, we have to really teach our children.

Moms who have to work outside the home and still have to come home and take care of her responsibilities at home, grace and grace and more grace to you. I have walked in your same shoes, I know how overwhelming it could be at times. With that kind of work load and schedule we are to tired to teach anybody anything. When we get home we just want to relax and fill ourselves up so we can constantly give to everybody else. I know everyone can’t afford a Christian education but thank God for the families who can afford it, at least our children are hearing about the love of God and his teaching while they are being educated.

wood-houses-school-old

This is not to make moms feel guilty but to shed light on who is actually raising our children. Public education are teaching our kids things that were never taught to us as kids when we were in school. There are things being taught in some of our children schools that are in direct opposition of what the word of God teaches.

So If you have decided to teach and educate your children at home, do not allow the pressure of everyone saying your kids are missing out on the social aspect of their lives. Homeschool groups are on the rise in almost every state where homeschooling is allowed. Your children have their church community if you are part of a body of believers. Your community and the state that you live in probably host homeschool events, just look it up on the internet.

But family is where real community starts. When have we gotten to the point where the family is not enough for us. Our neighborhood community activities is not enough for us. The events around our city is not enough for us. You can meet and fellowship with others around you in your own community.

Mom, you are well qualified to teach your children at home if you can, and if this is what you desire to do. God gave you everything you need to educate you children and led your children in the way of righteousness. Your child is an individual, they are unique and each child learns differently. You as a mom knows that. Sometimes others want to label your children because they are not keeping up with the learning style that is set for them by a decided on curriculum, but do not allow anyone to speak negatively about your children.

You speak the word of the Lord over your godly heritage. Some of our greatest leader that have lead this country were homeschooled. Most of our greatest olympic champions had to be homeschooled to develop their greatness. They have programs available to help you to teach your children at home and all you have to do is oversee their learning. I want moms to be encouraged that you have made the right decision in teaching your children at home.

8 Ways to Slay Your Giants!

sport-match-football-giantsHave you ever went through a struggle and didn’t know how you would overcome it? Things were being thrown at you, that you had never experienced before.

Ladies, there are going to be situations in your life, that is going to require you to give your full attention to or else it will remain the same because you fail to stand up and speak against it.

I do understand, sometimes you do not want to face your giants because of fear of rocking the boat. Meaning, you do not want to be the elephant in the room. You do not want to be the one that disrupts the soil or Satan’s agenda.

But what I realize in this life is, if you want peace in your life, sometimes it will require you to stand up for your God given promises. I would love to just fight everything in prayer, but there are times when God would require you to face the very thing that you wish could just go away in prayer.

Sometimes, God is working some stuff out of you and is teaching you to be bold as a lion and to face the giants that stands before you. Things are being worked out of you like intimidation, fear and timidity. God is building you up on the inside and is replacing that fear with boldness and courage. If you sit back and allow things to happen in your life, you never have peace in that particular situation.

There are blessings, dreams, rights and covenants that have been given to you to possess and enjoy in this life, but you must cover them in prayer. Just because your blessings were freely given to you doesn’t mean that forces of darkness wants to see you enjoy your God given blessings.

You can not just sit back and allow your blessings to be without watering of the word of God. You have to give your full love, time and attention to them. You must learn to wage war on the spirit of darkness, then have the boldness, and courage to stand up and speak to those spirits.

lion-wildcat-safari-africa-47036.jpeg

As a believer of God’s word, you can not live as one who is clueless and in sleep mode to the things that are around you. Your enemy Satan, would love nothing more than to catch you off guard so he can come in and scatter your life. I love what the Bible has to say about this.

1 Peter 5:8-14 reads, “Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ – eternal and glorious plans they are! – will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does:”.

Sleeping in your life to me is an absence of a communion and fellowship with God, which is prayer, meditation and reading of God’s word(Bible). When you have those 3 components in your life, you can pick up in the spiritual realm when there is foul play in your atmosphere or when the spirit of darkness wants to gain access to your promises.

Ladies, I am going to need for you to be alert and awake! Your dreams, your purpose, your marriage and your family lineage are at stake.

prayer-close

I have seen so many things that have been snatch away from people all because they were sleeping in their life. I am reminded of a story in the Bible about a boy name David. He could have lost it all if he were sleeping in his life. He could have lost it all if he was not connected to God through prayer and fellowship. He would have lost it all if he lived his life in fear and intimidation. For time sake, I will give a very short version of the story. Read the full story in 1 Samuel 17, in the Holy Bible. David and Goliath

David, a handsome boy from Israel stood up to face the giant Goliath from the Philistines. Goliath was very huge, very intimidating and has never lost a fight. But none of the soldiers from the Israelite camp wanted to fight the giant, not even the king who’s name was Saul. They feared that Goliath would destroy them.

By the way, the Israelites were God chosen people. They had God on their side. All they had to do was fear not, and put their trust in him. In the past, God worked miracles, after miracles for them.

David was brave enough to face this giant because he did put his trust in God almighty. David was a shepherd boy. While looking after the sheep, he protected them from their predators. David killed a lion and ran off a bear with his sling shot. King Saul offered a reward to the man who kills Goliath. The reward would be wealth, his daughter in marriage, and exempt his family from taxes in Israel. When David heard this good news, he knew this could change the course of his life and his family.

Everyone around him, especially his brothers, thought he could not do it because they looked at his size and statue. King Saul doubted him as well. The Giant tried to intimidate him and cause him to run and draw back. David was not in fear. David knew what his God could do if he be willing to stand up to this Giant. Goliath made all kinds of threats to David. But David boldly proclaimed his God given rights to Goliath. David knew if he did not fight Goliath, it could effect the whole generation of the Israelites, It could have wiped out his lineage, purpose and promises.

David was fighting for his marriage, his finances, his purpose and his lineage. He was not going down without a fight. Others around him were afraid and was trying to evoke their fears on  the inside of him but he was not having it! Saul even gave David armor to protect himself from the giant but the armor did not fit him. David told Saul, “this armor do not fit me.” David said, God has given me my own weapons to defeat this Giant. David Won! He defeated, destroyed and killed his Giant. Now you go and do the same to to your giants.

Here are the 8 ways David slayed his giant?

  1. Relationship and communion with God (prayer)
  2. Knowing his covenant rights (confessions of God’s word, Bible)
  3. Confidence and trust in the living God
  4. Purpose or a reason to fight his giant
  5. Courage to stand up to the giant
  6. Boldness to face the giant
  7. A voice to speak back to the giant
  8. David did have a natural tool to wipe this giant out for good(sling shot). Now, I am not advocating using physical force, but there are times when you will have shut the door on somethings, remove yourself from some situations and disconnect from some places and people.

I would love to hear from you. Please feel free to leave a comment and subscribe to my blog!
